Derek is directed by Sarah to go to a building. Derek finds a pregnant woman and a teenager. The teenager pulls a gun on Derek. Derek tells them that Sarah sent him.

Six months earlier, Sarah and Cameron break into a family's cabin in the woods. The family arrives and sees that Sarah and Cameron are armed with shotguns. Sarah tells them that someone is after them. The teenager, Lauren, retrieves her father's gun from the bedroom, points it at Sarah, and tells her not to move. The father, David, takes the gun and tells Sarah to tell him the truth. Sarah tells them about Skynet and the time jumps. Sarah says that a cyborg is after them and his babysitter in his city home is dead. Cameron walks in and takes the gun away from David. The family's dog begins to bark as Sarah tells them that they should leave.

They load up in Sarah's car and begin to drive away from the cabin. Suddenly, a truck hits the side of the car. A Terminator steps out of the truck and begins to fight Cameron. Sarah and the family run as Cameron continues to battle the Terminator.

In the present, Lauren sees that Derek has a barcode tattoo on his arm. Lauren says that the Terminator found them at a hotel. She says that she was told to call Sarah if they are attacked again.

Derek remembers being in the resistance headquarters at Serrano Point in 2027. Derek is told about a bioweapon that Skynet used to kill many people staying in barracks. He is told that one person survived.

Back in the present, Lauren tells Derek that her mother, Annie, is sleeping. Derek asks how the Terminator found them. Lauren says that she called a friend, Roger. The daughter says that she knows she broke the rules.

Lauren remembers the time after being hit by Terminator's truck. Sarah and the family return to the cabin. Sarah makes a leg splint for David. Sarah asks them which one of them the Terminator is after. David says that he is a banker. He says that his wife stays at home and his daughter doesn't do anything. Sarah goes and tries to find supplies. Lauren follows her and asks if she can help. Sarah tells Lauren that she is going to set a trap for the Terminator. The daughter says that her dad is hiding something. Sarah learns that David is working with Sindai, a cybernetic company.

Sarah asks David what he is doing with Sindai. David says that it is just business. She tells David that she needs to know why the Terminators want him dead. David says what he is doing is illegal. The family begins to argue and Sarah tells them to be quiet.

In the present time, the girl tells Derek that she wants to get some air. Derek gives her a gun and asks her if she knows how to use it. The girl takes the gun, checks the clip, then reloads it.

In the future, Derek arrives at the barracks where the Terminators have unleashed the bioweapon. Derek finds that the building is full of dead bodies. He calls out for anyone that is alive. He discovers a pregnant woman dead and her dead family huddled around her. He remembers meeting Jesse for the first time outside of the barracks.

In the present time, the Annie wakes up. Derek tells Annie that he knows that the daughter was lying about calling Roger. Derek asks if she called Roger.

Annie remembers being in the cabin. Sarah rigs the front door to shock and stun the Terminator. Sarah walks in the bedroom and sees that Annie is making a phone call. Lauren says that someone is coming. Annie says that it is their neighbor, Roger. The dog begins to bark. The wife says that the shock might hurt Roger, then disables the trap and opens the door. Roger arrives and asks Annie if she is alright.

In the present, Annie tells Derek that she knows that Roger and her husband are dead. Annie says that she can't believe that even at this point, her daughter is trying to protect her. Annie says that what is most important is Lauren and her baby.

In the future, Jesse asks Derek if he is the one who sent the distress signal from the barracks. Derek says no. Jesse figures that someone in the barracks is still alive. Jesse says that she is from Australia and that she was brought to the U.S. by a resistance controlled nuclear sub. Derek gives Jesse a gas mask. They enter the barracks to look for the survivor. Derek knocks on the door to the radio room. After a few moments, the door opens.

Back in the cabin, Lauren and Annie begin arguing. David calls Annie a slut. Roger begins to fight with David. Sarah shoots her shotgun in the air and tells them to shut up. Roger is skeptical that cyborgs are after them. Roger says that they should leave. Cameron is thrown in the cabin through the window. The dog begins to bark and jumps outside. The family hears the dog cry in pain. David takes Cameron's gun, says that the Terminator is after him and that he wants to sacrifice himself for his family's safety. He goes up to the Terminator and tells him to leave his family alone. The Terminator grabs Davids neck, assesses that he is not a threat, then tosses him aside. Sarah tells the family that David is not the person that the Terminator wants. Annie says that she is pregnant and David is not the father.
