A group of high school kids make fun of a girl named Taylor. They call her a slut and won't let her sit at the lunch table. Taylor finds another place to sit and a girl named April tells her she's sorry. Taylor tells April that she is a fat ugly pig. Taylor then goes into the bathroom and cries. She turns around and sees April. Taylor says she's sorry and didn't mean it. April then smashes Taylor's head into the mirror, then drowns her in the toilet. April then cries a black tear.

Sam goes to the mental hospital and talks to April. He asks why she thought she was possessed when she killed Taylor. April says she could see what she was doing, but she couldn't make it stop. Sam says the kids at school said she and Taylor didn't get along. April says that's true, but she never wanted to kill Taylor. Sam asks April if she smelled anything like sulfur or saw black smoke. April asks Sam if he's crazy.

Sam goes back to the car and tells Dean he thinks April was possessed, but she didn't see any black smoke or smell sulfur. They think it could be something inside the school and Sam suggests they check it out. Dean is not excited to go back into his former school.

A young Sam and Dean are dropped off at the school. Dean asks Sam if he's okay. Sam says he's sick of being the new kid. Dean tells Sam to relax and they will only have to stay a few weeks while their dad is working. Young Sam and Dean are introduced to their classes. Sam is quiet and Dean hits on his teacher. A knife falls out of Sam's bag, which impresses his classmate Barry. Meanwhile, Dean tells his teacher he has no books because he won't be there long. Sam sees Barry get bullied. Sam tells the bully to stop and the bully says he'll beat Sam instead.

Current day Sam disguises himself as a janitor and Dean goes undercover as a gym teacher. Dean makes his class play dodgeball. Sam walks in says he found no sulfur. Dean says if there's no sulfur, there's no demon and no case.

In a home ec class, a jock asks another student to give him his homework to copy. The other student calls the jock stupid. The jock threatens the kid, but the kid takes the jock's hand and shoves it in a food processor. Sam rushes to the scene and the student asks him what happened.

Sam and Dean meet up. Sam says the kid had ectoplasm coming out of his ear. They figure they are dealing with a pissed off ghost. Dean pulls out a paper he stole from the principal's office. Dean says there was only one death on campus, a kid named Barry who committed suicide. Sam says he knew him. Dean says Barry slit his wrists in the girl's bathroom. They figure Barry is possessing nerds and going after bullies.

Sam flashes back to seeing Barry have his books knocked out of his hands. Sam helped pick them up. Meanwhile, young Dean was making out with a girl. He asked her out, but she said she had a curfew. Dean said he didn't have a curfew and it's just him and his brother. Dean said his dad would be gone for a couple of weeks. The girl felt sorry for him and asked if he missed his dad. Sam then passed Dean in the hall. Barry told Sam his brother is cool. Dirk, the bully, then fought Sam in place of Barry. Dirk punched Sam, then a teacher broke up the fight.

Sam and Dean dig up, salt and burn Barry's remains. Dean asks if Sam is alright. Sam says he just burned his friend's bones. Sam thinks if their dad let them stay a little longer, he might have been able to help Barry. Dean tells Sam it wasn't his fault. Dean says he hated the school. Sam says it wasn't that bad. Dean asks how he can say that after what happened.

Young Dean gets angry that Sam was hit. Dean tells Sam he's going to beat the kid up. Dean then asks Sam why he didn't fight back. Sam says he just wanted to be normal. Sam asks if Dean heard from dad. Dean says no. Dean then says he hopes he comes back soon because his girlfriend wants him to meet her parents.
