A man eats his dinner in front of the TV when his lights start to flicker, then go out. He gets up to investigate and finds the door is locked. Another door swings open and a messed up looking girl walks in. He recognizes her and says it's impossible that she's there. Blood is then splattered on the wall as the man screams for her to stay away.

Sam wakes up in the car and sees Dean searching the papers for their next job. Sam tells Dean that he is working too much adding that he can't use work to run away from what happened to him in Hell. Dean tells Sam about a man in Nebraska who was killed inside a locked house with no signs of forced entry.

The brothers arrive at the house and let themselves in. They walk around the empty home and Dean jokes that the homicide will make the house hard to sell. Dean notices a hole in the kitchen wall that has been patched up. Sam sees that the ghost meter is off the charts, but thinks the nearby power lines could be causing the disturbance. They open a closet door and see a beat up doll head. They then look out the window and see a family and a moving van pull up.

Sam and Dean introduce themselves to the new owners as county health inspectors. They say that they've found asbestos in the walls and the house in unsafe to occupy until it is cleaned up. The brothers tell the family to stay at the local hotel until they clean up the health hazard. The family reluctantly agrees.

Sam and Dean talk to the former housekeeper. She tells them that she found the previous owner's body all over the room. She then says that his daughter Rebecca had hung herself in the attic. She gives them pictures of the deceased girl. Dean asks if she noticed anything odd in the house when she cleaned it. She says sometimes she heard rustling in the walls, but never saw anything. Sam asks where the mom and daughter was buried. The housekeeper says they were both cremated.

Ted, the family's uncle, inspects the house and says there is no asbestos. The family decides to go ahead and move in, wondering who Sam and Dean really were. Kate, the daughter sees something in the attic, but her mom assures her everything is fine. The family moves in and the son plays video games. He hears a door open and picks up a baseball. He calls out to the presence and introduces himself as Danny. He then plays catch with the mysterious presence.

The brothers return to the house and see the family has disobeyed their orders. They wonder what to do next. Sam suggests telling them the truth.

Ted sees the word 'GO' written on the wall in red crayon. The parents assume the artwork was done by Danny. He says he didn't draw on the wall. He says that the girl in the walls did it. He explains that she hates grown ups and wants them to leave, but said he could stay. Mr. Carter gets mad and sends Danny to his room.

Kate lies in bed and talks to Buster, the dog. He licks her hand and she tells him he's being gross. Buster then walks into the room and the door slams shut. Kate starts to scream. Her parents ask her what's wrong and she says she was molested by a ghost girl that lives in the walls. Sam and Dean pound on the door and say they heard screaming. They then tell the family that there is a ghost in the house and they need to get out. The lights then go out and Danny hears the dog whimper. Everyone runs out to see what is going on. They find the words 'Too Late' written in blood on the side of the moving van. Sam and Dean tell the family that they are not the bad guys. They tell them to go to the motel.

Dean sees that the Impala's tires are slashed, as well as the tires to the Carter's car and moving van. Sam finds that all their weapons are gone. The daughter screams and says that she saw the ghost in the woods. Dean instructs everyone to go inside the house because the ghost is hunting them. They get inside and Dean puts down a salt circle explaining that they hunt ghosts for a living. The family doubts the authenticity of the brothers's story.

Sam shows the family pictures of Rebecca and ask if they recognize her. The kids both recognize her as the ghost. Sam says that the girl killed herself in the house. Sam and Dean wonder how she can be haunting the house if she was cremated. They think she may have left something behind that is holding her spirit.
