Ryan announces that more than 47 million votes were cast. Simon tells Ryan that everyone performed well last night. He says it is an open competition which makes it fun. The group then comes out and performs a medley of 'It Don't Mean a Thing' and 'I Got Rhythm'. Ryan announces that both Allison and Danny had birthdays over the week. He shows the video of the group trashing the kitchen with a food fight. Ryan then hands Danny a bill for $6,000 from the cleaning company as a birthday present.

Ryan gathers the group to the stage. Matt is the first to be asked about his performance. He says he felt good about it. Ryan then tells Danny his performance was outstanding. He asks Danny what he did differently and Danny says he studied his old performances and made changes. Ryan reminds Allison that Simon told her he thought she was going to be in trouble. He then tells her to stand by Danny. Kris is next and the crowd cheers. Ryan asks Kris if he is in it to win it. Kris says he wouldn't be there if he didn't think he could win. Ryan tells Kris to stand next to Matt. Adam is last to hear how the judges loved his performance. Ryan asks Adam which group he should be with and Adam picks Allison and Danny. Ryan tells Adam he should actually be standing with Kris and Matt since they are the bottom three. Ryan says Danny and Allison are safe. Paula and Simon reminds the group that they are all good, but someone has to go home.

Natalie Cole takes the stage and performs 'Something's Gotta Give'. Taylor Hicks aka Soul Patrol sings a song from his new album 'The Distance'. Taylor offers the remaining contestants the advice to stay strong. Ryan then calls the bottom three to the stage and sends Kris over to sit with Danny and Allison. Jamie Foxx comes out and sings 'Blame It'. Jamie then reminds the contestants that no matter what happens on the show, their careers are just beginning. Ryan is about to annoumnce the results, but first takes a moment to tell Simon Randy and Kara were the only judges who got it right. Ryan then tells Adam he is safe and Matt is the one to go home.
