The show opens with Michael and the gang blending in at a horse track. Bellick approaches the ticket window, places a bet, then gets into a very heated argument with the lady at the window. With the distraction in play, Sucre heads towards the horses starting gates. The security team sees the commotion Bellick is causing and they vacate their office to investigate. Sara drops her tickets and an officer guarding the door to the manager's office bends down to pick them up. While Sara diverts the guard's attention away from his pot, Michael and Mahone sneak through the stairwell and into the vacant security office. They place the Scylla decoding device under the desk and leave the room.
At the track, a man known to have Scylla watches his horse. When the race starts, the gate holding his horse gets stuck, causing the horse to have a late start. The man becomes furious and storms into the security manager's office demanding to see the tapes to find out what happened. The men leave the room to investigate further, but not before Roland is able to successfully download the data.
After receiving confirmation that the Scylla was obtained, Sara returns to the stairwell and distracts the guard again. Mahone sneaks past and gets into the office to retrieve the Scylla device. Sara starts to lose the guard's attention and Mahone tries to find another exit. He ends up getting arrested. When he arrives at the jail, he tells them his name is Frank Swan. They take his fingerprints. He begs with the officer to drop the charges, but is unsuccessful and is taken to the holding cell.
The guys ask Self to get Mahone out of jail while they work out the details for their next operation. Self goes to his office and finds some strange guy on his computer who tells him he's just a tech guy and is finished working. The tech guy then goes to the General who is talking with Wyatt. He tells them that he was unable to penetrate Self's firewalls and had no information.
Self goes to the jail and asks them to release Mahone. He gets into a power contest with the officer and finds his Federal badge trumps the local one. He goes to Mahone and tells him he's free as long as he signs release papers. Mahone refuses to sign the papers because then they would run his fingerprints and find out who he really is, jeopardizing his position on the team.
Self goes back to the guys and tells them about Mahone. He was also able to retrieve the Scylla device. The guys realize they should forget about Mahone and move forward with their next assignment, but they can't help thinking about breaking him out of jail. They come up with a plan to overload the electrical system which would shut down the power, but later decide they can't break Mahone out.
Back at the jail, Mahone is approached by an officer and is told that the charges against him will be dropped if he releases the name of the guy he was working with. Mahone then calls Michael.
Self goes to his car in the garage and finds Wyatt waiting for him. Wyatt asks him why he's looking into the General. Self tells him that he won't release any classified information to a stranger. Wyatt tells him that the General likes his privacy. Wyatt then notices the parking stub from the county jail in Self's car window.
Wyatt goes to the jail and reads the sign in sheet. He sees who Self met with earlier and asks to see him too. The officer tells him that Frank Swan has left the building and is heading to the court to be arraigned.
Self returns to his office and while checking his messages, turns on his computer. He sees that all the guys are in the same location and calls Michael to find out what they're up to. Michael tells him nothing and he'll call him back later.
The gang, of course, is outside the courthouse. Michael and Lincoln are working on the public transformer boxes while Sucre is inside letting Mahone know they're going to help. Sara poses as the District Attorney and retrieves Mahone's file, fingerprints and all. Wyatt also walks into the courtroom and makes eye contact with Mahone. Sucre issues a countdown over the phone to Michael and they cut the power. When the lights come back, Wyatt sees that Mahone is gone.
Mahone then takes out the number he retrieved from the hotel clerk last episode and calls Wyatt. The two chat briefly and arrange a meeting. He goes back inside to rejoin the guys, throwing away the number. Roland retrieves the paper from the trash.
Meanwhile, T-Bag is in his office when his boss enters and starts to yell at him for erroneous data. T-Bag smooth talks his way out of the sticky situation. His boss leaves satisfied with T-Bag's explanation. T-Bag goes back to examining his office using the bird book as his guide. His boss returns and is furious about all of his errors. He accuses T-Bag of fraud and tells him he has to explain the documents immediately or else he's calling the authorities. T-Bag wipes down his office and takes off.
Elsewhere, Gretchen emerges from the shower at her sister's house. She goes downstairs and asks her sister for the German owl she gave her. Her sister hands it to her and she smashes it open, revealing the gun inside. Her sister asks what she's doing and Gretchen tells her she works for herself now and has things to take care of. She leaves her sister and a young girl, who turns out to be Gretchen's kid, behind.
Gretchen goes to the FBI and passes herself off as Whistler's wife in order to obtain his personal things. When the FBI officer asks for identification, Gretchen punches him, takes the information and leaves. She later finds T-Bag trying to escape his office and stops him then steps on his face and points her gun at him.
BeeThoughts
I knew those guys couldn't resist a jail break. I wonder if Mahone's phone call to Michael convinced him, or if he was going to break him out anyway. I am very curious about Mahone and Wyatt's meeting. Obviously Roland will look up the number Mahone threw away. Hopefully Mahone tells the guys what's up before they find out some other way. I didn't quite catch how Sara was able to pass herself of as the attorney. Oh, well. I wonder if T-Bag and Gretchen will work together. That seems like it would be an awkward partnering since she's so cold and he's such a smooth talker.
