Brenner reads his girlfriend's thesis on drip irrigation and is impressed. She tells him that she's not finished and they start to make out. They head to work and Brenner runs into Neela. He introduces her to LeeAnn who is on her way to class. Neela tells Brenner that his girlfriend is impressive and she didn't think that an intelligent woman would be his type.
Sam quizzes Alex for school while Sarah and Gates talk at the breakfast table. Gates throws a trick question at Alex and Alex teases Sarah about her outfit. They all argue and laugh like a family. Gates then makes some call to try to find Max.
Neela finds Lucien and tells him that she doesn't trust Andrew, or any intern for that matter. Lucien gets annoyed and tells her that her request to lose her interns has been approved. Meanwhile, Andrew talks to the interns about getting kicked off of Neela's instruction. They all tell him that he will be fine and to find another doctor to teach him.
Gates, Sam and Daria work on a young patient who is in critical condition. Gates hears that a homeless man was found unconscious outside and watches to see if it's Max. Gates sees Max's bag, then the doctors close the blinds in the room. Gates tells Sam he has to check to see if it's Max and asks her and Daria to treat the patient by themselves. The kid begins to crash and Gates grabs Morris to help while he checks on the homeless guy. Morris is annoyed, but Gates tells him that the kid is septic.
A woman named Beth is brought in after suffering an injury from falling down the stairs while escaping a fire. Neela and Brenner work on the patient. Andrew asks if he can help and Neela says no. Beth's husband Harry is with her and Beth's brother Ricky arrives. He sees Harry and yells at him for causing Beth's injury by messing with a 12 year old girl. Beth is stabilized and sent off for surgery. Ricky accompanies Beth while Morris tells Harry he needs to be checked out for smoke inhalation.
Gates checks on the homeless man and finds out that it wasn't Max, he just had Max's bag. Sam asks how the man got Max's bag and Gates says that he probably stole it. Gates then gets a picture of Max saving a kid in Iraq. He figures that if he posts that image of Max, people will be more likely to come forward and help.
Andrew reenacts the stink eye that Neela gave him to Daria. She tells him that he was probably just imagining it, but he's convinced that Neela hates him. The interns see Neela and stop talking. Morris tells Neela that she needs a vacation. Neela says that she was going to take one with Ray, but she just found out that he has a girlfriend. A man walks in and asks if her name is Neela Rasgotra. Neela says yes and he tells her she's just been served. Neela opens up the papers and finds out that the family of the woman who died because of Andrew's mistake is suing her for medical malpractice.
Morris checks out Harry and tells him that his lungs are fine. Harry tells Morris that he didn't do what Ricky accused him of. Harry explains that he was a clarinet teacher and he was just teaching a girl to play. He says that there's no way to teach the instrument without touching the students arm and back. He says that the girl accused him of things that he didn't do, then everyone turned on him. He was let suspended without pay and all his neighbors and friends shunned him. He was eventually found not guilty in court, but it didn't change how people treated him. He says that his house was burned down because people still think he molested that girl. Morris asks why he didn't call the police and Harry says that they don't care. Morris then tells Brenner that Harry is going to be fine and Brenner says too bad.
Neela asks Andrew if he was served papers and Andrew says no. She tells him that the woman's family is suing her for medical malpractice. He says that the family promised him that they wouldn't sue. Neela asks what he means and Andrew says that he went to the family and told them that it was his fault she died. Neela becomes angry and leaves.
