Dr. Abby Lockhart stands in her empty apartment, then heads to work. She goes to her locker, puts on her uniform, and looks at her Bible and it's inscriptions. She enters the ER waiting room and calmly walks through the chaos. She is greeted with a man on a stretcher who is bleeding from a gunshot wound to the chest. She immediately has to use her surgical scissors to punch another hole in his chest because his covered wound created a one way valve making the patient unable to breathe. A group of kids come in the room and ask how their coach is. Dr. Morris also enters the room and Abby tells him the situation with the patient.

Abby then sees young twin boys who were brought in by their mother because they were vomiting. The mother says they're better now and asks if she could answer some questions they have about sex, drugs, and alcohol. Abby agrees to talk to the boys.

Dr. Neela Rasgotra runs into Abby and asks if the rumor that she's moving to Boston is true. Abby confirms that it is, but asks Neela to keep it a secret. Neela asks when she's leaving and Abby says today. Neela gets upset because she didn't tell her sooner. Abby explains that she didn't want it to be any harder than it already is and asks if they can still be friends.

Abby is then sent to attend to two Jewish men who got in a fight with each other at a synagogue. The men are found arguing about a bris and one of the men recognizes Abby. He tells her that he performed her marriage and asks how things are. She says fine and gives him an ice pack for his bruises.

Abby then takes the opportunity to talk to the young boys. They start to barrage her with all kinds of weird questions about everything from monkeys liking bananas to vampires catching AIDS. Abby leaves the boys and goes back to the coach with the gunshot wound.

The kids are in the room with their coach and asking about his condition. Abby tells them that she has to put another tube down his throat and he won't be able to talk. He tells Zeke, one of the kids, that he doesn't blame him and makes him say he heard him. Dr. Banfield walks in and tells all the kids to leave. She allows the coach's girlfriend to stay. Banfield takes over the patient's care and tells Abby to run the board.

Abby walks out in the hall and sees Mrs. Gaines (played by Charlotte Rae) and her cat. Mrs. Gaines asks her to refill her prescriptions. Abby tells her that she really need to get a primary care doctor, but Mrs. Gaines insists that Abby is her doctor. Abby enters a room and sees Dr. Morris. He asks if she's ever been at a crossroads. He says that Dr. Pratt's last words to him were "Don't screw this up Morris." Abby tells him that she would trust him with her life. She then takes him to Mrs. Gaines and tells her that if she ever comes in and can't find her to have Dr. Morris help her instead.

Abby returns to the gunshot victim, but a fight breaks out outside the room and Dr. Banfield makes Abby attend to it. Abby breaks up the fight and finds that the group of kids were beating up Zeke because they blamed him for their coach getting shot. Abby sits with Zeke and he tells her it's not his fault. The coach's girlfriend then enters and starts yelling at Zeke. She slaps him, Abby yells at her, and Zeke takes off.

Dr. Lucien Dubenko sees Abby in the hall and asks her if she's really moving to Boston. She says it's true and asks him not to tell anyone. Dr. Paul Grady overhears and asks when she's leaving. Abby tells him today is her last day. She goes off to find Zeke and locates him on the edge of the roof.

Abby carefully approaches Zeke and asks him to talk to her. He explains that coach told them that if they ever needed a place to go if things ever got too rough, he left a key to his place in a box outside. Zeke says that one day he went there when he thought the coach wasn't going to be home and a bunch of his friends came with. They started partying and things got out of hand. When coach walked in, he was shot and he'll kill himself if anything happens to him.
