Two sisters, Ashley and Vanessa, hang out at a club in Atlanta. They are approached by a man. Vanessa leaves with the man and is later found murdered.
The team learns that the man brought Vanessa back to her place and slit her open. Spencer says that Vanessa could have still lived for several hours after the initial wound, which means the killer could be a sexual sadist. Jordan details similar murders and says that bleach, ammonia, and trash bags arranged in a triangular pattern appear at all the crime scenes. The detectives think the man could be showing remorse so he cleaned up the crime scene. Jordan says that bleach and ammonia were found under the victims nails. The detectives realize that the killer is making the victims clean up their own murders.
The team flies to Atlanta. On the plane they analyze the criminal's mind. Spencer says the triangular pattern is interesting. Emily says he could have a mental disorder. David points out that the killer used to only kill prostitutes, but after taking a year off, he started killing women from clubs. Emily says that they need to do two profiles, one for the man who murders prostitutes and another for the man who murders women from clubs.
The agents meet with the local police. Spencer asks if there is a DNA match between the prostitute killings and the club. They ask if there were witnesses and the officer hands them a vague sketch. The detectives want to talk to Vanessa's family and they are told that Ashley won't cooperate anymore.
Jordan calls Garcia and asks if she can find leverage to help her convince the family to talk. Garcia finds emails that suggest that Vanessa was the responsible one between the two sisters.
The detectives meet with the family. Mrs. Holden says that Ashley won't talk to them. Jordan tells her that she lost her older sister in a car crash, which was really hard on their family. She says that her sister was the responsible one and after she died, the family fell apart. Jordan says that her mother wouldn't talk to police either, but her sister died in a car crash where no one else's life was at stake. Jordan says that they need to find the man that killed Vanessa before he kills again. Mrs. Holden agrees to let them talk to Ashley and says that she will kick them out if they accuse Ashley of anything. Derek asks Hotch if he knew about Jordan's sister. Hotch tells Derek that Jordan is an only child.
Ashley says that she took her sister out after she broke up with her boyfriend. Derek says that they saw the surveillance and saw that the killer was dressed like a rocker. Ashley says that he was confident and joking with them. She says his eyes were different colors and he bet them drinks that they couldn't get his number. Ashley says that the last thing her sister told her before she left was that she had the best time.
Hotch and Derek ask Jordan how she found out Vanessa was the responsible sister. Hotch gets mad at Jordan for lying and says that if they get caught in a lie, they break the trust with the people they need for information. Jordan asks Derek how bad she screwed up and Derek tells her that she screwed up pretty bad with Hotch.
Spencer finds out that the killer killed prostitutes in the poor part of town, but Vanessa lived in a wealthy neighborhood. Hotch suggests that the killer used the year off to transform himself. David thinks there might have been a trigger that caused him to want to change. They figure he probably read a lot of self help books and gone to a gym. David points to an ad for a class on how to pick up women from a paper that is from the neighborhood of the prostitute murders.
The detectives go to a new crime scene. The woman was pushed out of an eight story window and was not disemboweled. The detectives wonder why the killer was changing his method. They see the cleaning supplies sloppily arranged and think that he was interrupted. Emily suggests that the woman could have jumped. They think he will strike again to complete his ritual.
Spencer notices a theme with the killer's costume. He points out that he uses sunglasses or color contacts which might draw people's attention away from an identifying mark near his left eye. The detectives distribute information to the neighborhood to warn women about the club killer.
Emily learns that there is only one guy who gives dating lessons who tells the clients to dress up. Emily, Hotch and Derek go to the class and hear the teacher, named Viper, comparing picking up women to hunting. After the class, they tell the teacher that they think the killer was one of his clients. They ask for a client list, but he refuses. The man then out-machos Derek and tries to seduce Emily. The detectives leave, annoyed.
