On Monday, a group of workers are riding in an office elevator when it starts to shake. The rattling pops open the elevator's ceiling door causing a bloody lower leg to fall. The skinless extremity with a high heeled shoe attached drops down in the middle of the elevator crowd.

Agent Booth and Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan go to the office building to investigate. They climb onto the ceiling and find a mess, with body parts on top of the elevator and the shaft walls smeared with blood.

Booth and Brennan find that the control room on the rooftop is unlocked and discover a marijuana roach. They also find a chute that they suspect may be where the victim was dropped.

Back at the Jeffersonian, the team analyze the body. They find that she was brown haired and 20 to 40 years old. They also find no traces of drugs or poison in her system. The find that the body fell from a distance of at least 60 meters.

The body meets the description of Patty Hoyle, the office manager.

Booth and Brennan return to the office and quietly tell the receptionist, Christine, that they believe the person who died was Patty. The receptionist tells another co-worker, Chip, and word quickly spreads around the office that Patty is dead. Booth requests to look at Patty's computer.

Booth and Brennan meet with the office boss, Gary Flannery. He tells the investigators that when he left Friday, Patty was alone in the office working late. Booth asks if anyone in the office smokes marijuana. Flannery says that Ted, another office worker, was arrested recently for weed possession.

Booth and Brennan find the messy haired Ted in the breakroom eating a fruit loop filled sandwich.

Ted admits to smoking reefer on the rooftop. Booth asks Ted if he killed Patty because she caught him smoking weed. He also shows Ted a photo of Patty's car with the word 'Bitch' keyed into the rear side panel. Ted denies that he killed Patty or vandalized her car.

Back at the lab, the team finds copier toner on Patty's sweater. The new team member, Colin Fisher, figures that it's from rolling around the copy room floor.

Fisher, the new guy, is preoccupied with trying to find the meaning of life and is unsure that he belongs on the team. Being unable to immediately determine Patty's cause of death, he feels that he is going to be fired. Cam and Brennan recognize that he is a talented analyst and praise his efforts.

Brennan and Booth return to the office and walk toward the copy room. While on their way, Brennan compares the cubicle environment to government work life. She says that both are efficient hive like systems occupied by drones. Booth takes offense at this comparison.

At the copy room, the investigators find stains on the carpet and order it to be removed for further analysis.

Computer forensics return with a report and find an email addressed to Patty. The message calls Patty a 'bitch' and is signed by Dave, an employee who was recently fired.

They bring in Dave for questioning and he admits keying her car. He says that nobody liked Patty because she is unreasonably strict. They inform him that Patty is dead and he is surprised. He says that he was at home playing online video games during the time of Patty's death.

At the Royal Diner while Sweets is taking his lunch, Angela arrives asking for advice on dealing with her recent breakup with Jack Hodgins. Sweets tells her to explore her whole life experience to discover why she was initially attracted to Hodgins. He tries to schedule therapy sessions, but Angela says that he helped enough, thanks him and leaves.

Angela later meets with Hodgins and tells him that she hates the tension at work. She tells him that she is glad the relationship happened, but wants to move on.

The team finds the stain on the copy room carpet is semen. They also find semen on Patty's skirt. They discover that Patty was using Flannery's company credit card and suspect that she was sleeping with her boss.

Booth and Brennan confront Flannery about his credit card statement showing charges for room service, a massage, a purse and lingerie. Flannery says that Patty blackmailed him after she caught him ordering the wrong supplies. Flannery gave Patty the credit card in exchange for her not telling his superiors. He denies sleeping with her, but Brennan takes a DNA sample to see if it matches the semen sample.

Fisher finds that there was no way that Patty could fit into the roof top elevator chute. Booth and Brennan figure that the body was dropped from the 16th floor. They go back to the office and Booth tries to open the elevator door, but can't. They figure that two people were needed to dump the body.

Back at the Jeffersonian, Brennan finds two puncture wounds on Patty's skull. After further analysis the team determines that Patty died from an aneurysm after being hit by a stapler thrown at her.

The team also finds that another stain on Patty's clothes is consistent with a Blue Hawaiian cocktail. They figure that the killer stepped in the drink and transferred the ingredients to Patty.

They find that Flannery's DNA sample does not match the semen stains. They discover that the semen belongs to a man of Asian descent.

They call in Chip, the only Asian working in the office. They accuse him of having a relationship with Patty. Initially, Chip tells them that he was not sleeping with her, then changes his story. He says that they were having an affair and he wanted to break it off. Chip says he had a couple of drinks to raise his courage and approached her. He says that Patty threatened to accuse him of sexual harassment if he did not continue on with the relationship. He says that he then got angry and threw a stapler at her. Chip then says that he threw her body down the elevator shaft.

Booth and Brennan take Chip to the 16th floor and asks him how he dumped the body. Chip desperately tries to open the elevator but can't. Brennan gives him a hand and together they manage to get it open. Inside, they find a broken fingernail with blue nail polish.

Booth and Brennan find that the fingernail belongs to the receptionist, Christine. Christine admits that Patty caught Chip and her making love in the copy room and threatened to fire them. She admits that she got angry and threw a stapler at her, but did not know she had an aneurysm. She confesses that Chip helped her get rid of the body and was trying to protect her. She says that she only wanted to be with Chip and starts to cry. Booth holds her hand as she sobs.

BeeThoughts

Angela says that she wants to move on, but I think Hodgins thinks that there might be a chance for them getting together. I think it was too early for Angela to try to get back to a normal work environment.

I thought that the elevator shaft is probably the worst place to dump a body. It will rot, smell and if you are the killer, you are probably going to be investigated if a body is found at your workplace.
