A group of role players enter a drainage pipe. One of the boys screams after he sees a group of rats. A boy dressed as a wizard sees that there is a decomposed body in the pipe and runs.

Bones visits Booth at his apartment. Booth says that he hurt his back again. He blames his couch and says that he fell asleep while he was watching the game. Booth asks Bones to fix his back again with her magic knuckles. Bones tells him that he needs to see a specialist. Booth tells her that he doesn't trust anyone but her with his back. Bones gets behind Booth and stretches his back. Booth whimpers in pain as he hears his back crack.

At the Jeffersonian, Bones tells Angela that Booth has a herniated disc. She says that Booth will be on bed rest for the rest of the week. Agent Prerotta arrives and thanks Bones for calling her in to take over for Booth while he is out. Camille tells Bones that she went to the drain pipe scene and brought the body back to the lab. Bones tells Perotta that Booth usually lets her look at the body at the scene. Bones looks over the body with Colin. He says that the victim is a female that was in her late 20's. Colin says that there is severe damage to the victim's skull and jaw. Bones says that the damage will make facial reconstruction difficult.

Perotta, Camille and Colin examine the clothing of the victim and see that it is fantasy attire. Perotta examines the victim's wrist and finds a UV stamp. Angela tells Bones that the stamp doesn't match any local bars or clubs. Colin admits that he is a geek who even watches Fringe. Colin tells the team that he thinks that the victim was a booth babe at a fantasy convention called Imagicon. Angela loads up the convention's website and they find a photo of a girl that is wearing the clothing of the victim.

Bones and Perotta go to the convention and see a crowd of fans dressed up in fantasy costumes. Perotta asks Bones about Booth's back. Bones says that it was an accident. They see the booth that the victim was part of and ask a girl if they know the person who was killed. A model named Shiny tells Booth and Perotta that the victim is named Kendra. Shiny tells the team that she thought that Kendra was fired for her attitude. She says that she and Kendra worked for the Grimmore group. Shiny says that Kendra told her that she was getting out of the convention business and was moving onto something big. Shiny says that she saw Kendra talk to someone at the Blacksmith booth.

Bones and Perotta meet with Kroon the blacksmith and ask him if he knows Kendra. Kroon says that Kendra asked him about how much he would give her for an Excalibur sword that was used in the film. Kroon tells the team that the sword was worth thousands. He says that he sent Kendra to meet with Karl Derth, an auctioneer. Kroon tells the agents that the sword was used in the first fantasy film ever made. Kroon says that he thought that Kendra stole the sword from someone at the convention.

At the Jeffersonian, Hodgins says that he found soil under her nails that is not native to the dump site. Camille tells Hodgins that Colin just broke up with his girlfriend. Colin says that he feels dead inside.

Bones calls Booth and asks him if he is wearing his girdle. Booth gets another call from Perotta who asks him if he needs anything. Perotta tells Booth that they found the victim's father. Bones tells Booth that he pressed his phone's conference button and can hear what Perotta is saying. Bones asks if the victim's father is coming in. Booth says that he wants to come in, but Bones points out that he is on pain killers.

Kendra's father, Mr. Kim tells Perotta that he doesn't see his daughter very much. Booth watches the interview via webcam. Kim tells the agents that Kendra was irresponsible. Booth asks Kim if he gave his daughter a sword. He says no. Perotta tells Kim that she would like to take a look around Kendra's condo.
