Amazing Race 13

The Emmy winning race is back for it's 13th competition. Players including an ex-NFL player, his wife, a mother and son, and two frat brothers compete for the winning prize of a million dollars. See who gets eliminated in our recap of the premiere episode of Amazing Race.

The race starts off at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The groups run to their backpacks and read their clue. They must get themselves to Sao Paulo, Brazil using one of two flights American Airlines which arrives first and United Airlines which comes in 3 hours later.

The teams make it to the airport and after some confusion as to which line to get in, they finally start booking their flights.
On the American Airlines flight in order of arrival: Mark and Bill, Ken and Tina, Nick and Starr, Terrence and Sarah, Aja and Ty, Kelly and Christy
On the United Airlines flight: Toni and Dallas, Andrew and Dan, Arthur and Anita, Marisa and Brooke, Anthony and Stephanie.

The first plane was delayed by an hour or so and the teams get into taxis. They get to their first clue location and receive the first challenge. The teams must push a loaded merchandise cart through the streets of Sao Paulo and arrive at the town square of Praca del Sal.

Terrence and Sarah are the first to complete the challenge. They receive their next clue. They must get to a military base in Salvador, sleep there under a mosquito net, then sign in for a departure the next day at 9:00, 9:30 9:45.

The rest of the teams arrive and sign in for their departures times.
The 9:00 departure: Terrence and Sarah, Ken and Tina, Mark and Bill, Nick and Starr
The 9:30 departure: Kelly and Christie, Andrew and Dan, Aja and Ty
The 9:45 departure: Toni and Dallas, Anita and Arthur, Anthony and Stephanie, Marisa and Brooke

The teams arrive in Pelourinho and must get to a church for their next clue, a detour. Teams must choose between Hard Way Up, where teams must climb up a stone staircase on their hands and knees and answer a mystery question when they get to the top. They only complete the task if they answer the question correctly. The second option is Soft Way Down, where teams must go up an outdoor elevator and climb down a cargo net, 240 feet down. All the teams chose Soft Way Down except Andrew and Dan. When Andrew and Dan got to the top, they were asked "How many stairs have you climbed," which they were unable to answer correctly.

After completing the road block, teams must head to the pitstop at Forte Sao Marcello.

The teams arrive to the pitstop in the following order: Nick and Starr (won a trip for 2 to Belize), Ken and Tina, Terrence and Sarah, Mark and Bill, Kelly and Christie, Toni and Dallas, Andrew and Dan, Aja and Ty, Anthony and Stephanie, Marisa and Brooke, and Anita and Arthur.

Obviously, the BeeSight team was rooting for the beekeepers, but they were elimated tonight.
